My stock NA seats were decent. They got much better when I cut a lot of foam out of them.

My experience with newer Nb seats left me wanting my NA seats back.

The 99-00 Nb seats were worse than the newer Nb seats. Flat and non supportive.

Sit in a racing style fixed back seat. My knockoff bride is comfy as hell.

I dislike the base 99-00 seats, I agree, very bleh to sit in. The 10AE seats are a big improvement.

I have driven multiple 8 hour drives in the Corbeaus... the only complaint I have is the lack of lower lumbar support... I had to shove a folded sweatshirt behind my back and it was fine after that.

Otherwise... I think my Corbeaus have been just as comfortable as the NA seats... but in a much better driving position.

My wife actually gave the okay for new seats. I don't think she realizes that Corbeau Forzas with sliders is about 800 bucks, plus shipping. I wouldn't sink $400-600 into a different suspension, so I don't think I'm gonna spring for that much. But it's one part of the car that keeps bugging me because it's so visible.

Searching the web I found a place that sells seat upholstery. Vinyl, with cloth inserts. Not so sure I really want the vinyl, but it's gotta be better than just seat covers. I can't believe some place like Katskins doesn't make an OEM style cloth upholstery kit. I know they would sell, as long as they were a little cheaper than the leather ones.

Driver's side bolster is very worn, and it is kind of misshapen. I'm not sure if the foam bolster is just all broken up, or just torn loose from the bottom. I guess I'd have to tear it all apart to find out. Not sure if there's any real fix, or just replace the foam. Seat bottoms are $175 the only place I found them online. That's pretty steep for a piece of foam, but I haven't found any alternatives.

Anyone ever recover the seats? What did you use (leather, vinyl, cloth) and where did you get them? Leather is about $600, and for the hassle of redoing them, I might as well just bolt in new seats. That has to be worth a few hundred to keep my blood pressure in the safe range.

Find some leather MSM/10AE seats from someone who upgraded to racing seats, bolt them in, enjoy.

I re-upoholstered the Forza's I had which was a pretty easy process, but thats again a race seat so I am not sure the difference in difficulty.

I would offer the stock seats I had out of my 96, but the cat decided to take a liking to one of them as a scratching post when it was sitting unattended in the basement and it doesn't look nearly as good as when it came out of the car.

Buy two Forzas from Here:

http://www.racingseats.com/product.php?pid=14804

$498 shipped.

Make your OEM brackets fit the seats or spend $150 on the corbeau brackets.

That's a pretty good proce. Renown Performance (Miataturbo.net sponsor) claims they'll meet any price, so I'm going to contact them. Worst they can do is say no, and I'll get them from the above link.

So, mount to the floor (fabbed brackets), stock sliders or buy the ($94 each) Corbeau brackets. What did you do in the blue jellybean car?

Just did a quick search, and ebay came up. A pair of red or black "JDM" seats for about $190 plus another 100 bucks shipping. That's only about 5 bucks more thant the velour reupholstery kits, and I don't have to install them. However, I'm slightly worried about fitment (rubbing at the top bolster) and how to actually mount them in the car. They claim to be "universal fit", which means that don't really fit anything.
