Funny...please show me your technical data to back that statement up. An overstretched tire yes.....its actually easier to pop a bead of a tire off of a wheel with no stretch rather than one with. This because of the difference in sidewall stretch. The no stretched sidewall is more susceptible to flex because of the lower pressure involved with the seating of the tire. The stretched tire's sidewall is flexed more and thus it is less prone to flex.

You need an extreme stretch to rub the wheels on the ground also. I stretched 225's across 9.5" 18's and thats probably the limit I would do, but they were by no mean dangerous or ricey.

How about 195/50/15 on a 8" wide wheel?

Hardly a stretch.

195/50/15 is perfect on your 7" wheels Paul. Do it.

long ur tires are fine. slightly stretched are no problem. it appears that those tires actually have a large tread patch. cny im not talking about popping a bead off. if you were to nail a corner with 195s on like a 8 inch wheel at around 40 or 50 you run the risk of the rim actually hitting the ground. the outside of the tire is pulled toward the inside of the turn exposing the rim. ive had friends curb rims without ever touching an actual curb. im not stretching is bad. but if you over do it you can loose tire life and maybe even a wheel

I run 195 on an 8 inch rim like you said, racing on them, getting sideways and drifting on them, didn't know this so called "issue" ever existed.

you all are comparing different tires on different wheels in different applications i just read the whole thread like it was said earlier different tires have wider and skinnier tread thats up to the manufacture that 195 or 205 is the total width of the tire weather that is just the tread or mostly side wall you wont know until your holding the tire. i work at goodyear and theirs differences in the same size tire say a 195 60 15 in just different tire lines. like a good year integrity or a good year assurance triple tred.
what im getting at is if you think itll roll paul roll it

i hear ya andy.

tires and their sizes are silly.

Ive seen James' s.drives in person and they look good and seem to handle well. also not too bad of a price. With a little bit wider wheel ill be running than james' wheels, the 195/50 will be perfect.
