Ordered this on Festivus (12/23) and, to my astonishment, it arrived today. From England.

Won't be able to install it for a while yet (car is in storage until Spring), but should be a nice complement to the other mods I've got planned.

Shifter felt imprecise last year, so ordered up the usual array of shifter rebuild bits.

Didn't end up replacing the upper dust boot, still in solid shape. Inner boot was, of course, ripped. Replaced it.

Nylon bit at the bottom of the shifter was fine. So why the imprecise shifter feel?

Shifter turret was loose. The four bolts that hold it in were all backed out a ton. icard:

I was very alarmed- was this the result of prior, shittily done maintenance? If so, what other problems was I going to find?

I asked The Googles, though, and am now relaxed. Apparently this is a known issue with MSMs.

I'm surprised it didn't slosh fluid out and drip.

Every Miata I've ever seen has at least one of the rubber boots ripped. Usually, it's both.

Today I began the process of installing the roll bar.

With the package shelf bare, took a small detour to swap in a DW300.

Will continue with roll bar install tomorrow. Fuel pump install is a prelude to the upcoming power mods (xede, rx8 420cc injectors, and a euro intake manifold).

Roll bar is now fully installed, just have to cut the carpet and plastic trim to fit. May do that, wash the car, and get pics tomorrow.

Had Innovative finish the install (drilling of chassis holes and bolting it down- wanted it done with the chassis evenly supported rather than jacked up on my rather uneven garage floor). Also had them chop off the oem seatbelt guides because when I did that on my last miata and it was a major hassle. Did a great job for a reasonable price.

Now trying to decide what to do for engine management to go along with manifold and injectors. Xede is here on a shelf, but considering selling it and going with either Reverant's PNP Megasquirt or BEGI's reflash. Decisions, decisions.
